As if college isn’t stressful enough, the amount of stress I’m under has increased a ton since Cassidy was diagnosed with Lyme. While I worry about my sister while I’m away, I know she’s a warrior and can handle herself, which lets me focus on school more.
There have been a lot of changes around our house since she got diagnosed. I have to admit, I hate coming home and having nothing to eat but horrible, gluten-free food. But, I think of the fact that some days, Cassidy can’t even make it downstairs to the kitchen to see what food we have. So if munching on some sawdust crackers is the worst thing that happens to me, I’ll have a pretty good day.
With all the problems her Lyme causes her, she is still the smartest person in our family. Somehow through all this, she has managed to keep her awesome GPA, and continues to do well in all of her classes.
As Cassidy’s growing up, we are starting to get closer and she’s becoming one of my best friends. I can’t wait for her to finish high school and come away to school with me!
