I've know Cass for a little over 5 years now, since before she showed symptoms of Lyme Disease. Before Lyme hit her hard, Cass was lively, loud and exuberant. She was on several sport teams at her high school and active on a daily basis, whether she was swimming in her pool or just playing around with her brother and sister.
This was some time ago. Since then, Lyme has taken a toll on my soon-to-be sister. She has had days where I've just seen her sit on the couch all day with ice on her head and heat on her neck, trying to get her body to stop aching enough just to go up and down the stairs. I've seen her leave early in the morning for doctor appointments and get home late from them. Sometimes, she just gets sad and cries because she wants it to be over, and it breaks my heart because we can't do anything to help her.
But, in the last couple months, she's tried new meds, and she's had decent control over the pain. She's been having more good days than bad, but she's not out of the woods, so to speak. She fights the pain of Lyme every day and and I know she won't stop fighting it until we find a cure.
That's what Cass is. She's a warrior, she's a fighter and she's one of the strongest people I know. #MyLymeWarrior #BiteBack
